The Christie Pathology Partnership

The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) is a joint venture between SYNLAB and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. Commencing in 2014, the Partnership will run for 10 years and operates out of the existing Christie pathology laboratories, where around 70 staff have transferred from the NHS to the CPP.

The Christie Pathology Partnership delivers a high quality, responsive pathology diagnostic service to The Christie and other healthcare providers regionally and nationally.

The Christie is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 44,000 patients a year, and the first UK centre to be officially accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. The Christie is an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years, its clinical trials unit is the largest early phase trials unit in the world, with around 200 trials ongoing at any one time. The Christie School of Oncology also provides undergraduate education, clinical professional and medical education and is the first of its kind in the UK.

SYNLAB is delighted to work with The Christie and to be able to bring its expertise in running highly efficient laboratory diagnostics to the fore. The Christie Pathology Partnership is well placed to benefit from the scale of SYNLAB operations, including access to specialist testing facilities and best practices across the SYNLAB laboratory network.

The range of services provided includes Blood Sciences (incorporating Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Stem Cell Processing), Histopathology, Oncology Cytogenetics, Breast Tumour Receptor testing and Bereavement and Mortuary services.
