SYNLAB Hospital Partnerships includes Integrated Pathology Partnerships (iPP). iPP was established in 2010 to enable UK healthcare organisations to strengthen the quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their pathology services. iPP also benefits from being part of SYNLAB, Europe’s largest laboratory service provider, conducting over 500 million tests per annum.
The combined clinical expertise and resources of iPP equip it to be a strategic partner to both the NHS and independent healthcare providers. iPP can assist a wide variety of healthcare providers and commissioners in meeting the challenges of quality, cost and rising demand in UK pathology services.
iPP currently has 3 NHS Joint Ventures in place: The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP), Pathology First and Southwest Pathology Services (SPS).
The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) is a joint venture between SYNLAB and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. Commencing in 2014, the Partnership will run for 10 years and operates out of the existing Christie pathology laboratories, where around 70 staff have transferred from the NHS to the CPP.
Pathology First was formed in 2014 and is a joint venture between Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and private sector partners – Integrated Pathology Partnerships (iPP). Pathology First delivers full laboratory services to a population of 750,000 patients and over 250 GP practices in the South East.
Southwest Pathology Services (SPS) was formed in 2012, and is a joint venture between Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and iPP. SPS delivers full laboratory services to a population of 500,000 patients and over 100 GP practices in Somerset.
